Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarship, family service as well as community involvement. The first is his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children in a Eufala farm. A second reason was he is the youngest of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. The team also took home 2 national titles. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service included ten hours per week in volunteer work during the college. After graduating, Lee Roy settled in Tampa and spent the next 9 years with the Buccaneers. There were three times, he was named All-Pro. Then he began his business career. The year 1988 was the first time he began working as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being among the top 10 youths from the United States. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6'2 inches. In his time at for college, he was the head coach of the 1975 team. In 1993 he joined at the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
